Instructor Guide - How to signup Zoom account for hosting Online Class

HKUST has successfully subscribe Zoom service. Please access Zoom at https://hkust.zoom.us. This site is accessible in Hong Kong, Oversea as well as Mainland China.

Please note, the website https://zoom.cn is not related with the Zoom Service we are using. Please note and do not visit this website by mistake.

This document is for HKUST teaching staff who need to signup Zoom account for hosting Online Class.

The University has subscribed Zoom and it is available teaching staff and students to run online classes.

Create our HKUST Zoom account and SignIn

  1. Point your browser to https://hkust.zoom.us. The system will display HKUST Zoom portal. You can JoinHost and Sign in to HKUST Zoom service here.
  2. Click on Sign In, you will be directed to HKUST Logon page. Login with your HKUST username and password. Your Zoom account will be automatically created.

Adding Webinar add-on

If you are a teaching staff and need to hold Webinar online classes, you will need the Zoom Webinar add-on for your Zoom account. For the time being, please send an email to cchelp@ust.hk to initiate the request. To help speeding up your request, your email need to provide the following information:

  • Subject: Request for Zoom add-on 
  • Includes the following in the content of your email
    • Your Email address: e.g. username@ust.hk
    • Your department: e.g. ITSC
    • The number of students in your online class - We need to know whether your largest class size is less than 100 (<100) OR between 1 to 500 (<500) students, in order to provision the correct Webinar option for you. Please also provide the course code if your class size is have more 100 students.

The Webinar add-on will be added within 2 hours during office hour.
