Training and developing IT staff are crucial to the future success of an organization. With the fast advancement of IT technology, staff should devote life-long learning approach to update new concepts and techniques, in order to be more efficient, productive and adaptable. This training programme targets for all IT staff, including management, technical support and application developers, to enrich and broaden their knowledge.
Objective
This program is mainly for IT staff like managers, system administrators, application developers, etc, to keep their knowledge up-to-date and equip them with appropriate IT skillsets, so that they can fulfil their job duties. The mission is to develop their expertise in appreciation of the critical role they play in supporting HKUST system and applications.
What to be offered
A series of training, from foundation to advanced level, will be offered. Areas will cover:
- Technical IT training in system support and application development
- Administrative and soft skills
- Cybersecurity knowledge
- Hot topics in IT areas
Past Training Resources
Learning Path
Staff can choose their interested topics to attend each year to update their skillsets. They are expected to complete at least 3 core courses and 3 elective courses in two years time, in which around a total of 40 hours spent in this programme.
Core Course - Core courses will be offered every year and IT staff are expected to attend all of them. Topics include Personal Data Privacy, Cybersecurity and IT Service Management.
Elective Course - Elective courses will be offered from time to time and IT staff are expected to attend any of them according to their needs and interests.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Unit
Staff on attending training courses offered in this program will earn CPD units, (1 CPD unit = 1 hour). ITSC will keep records on the number of CPD attained for each staff. By accumulating at least 40 CPD units, with 3 core and 3 elective courses being taken, ITSC will issue a Certificate of Achievement to the staff to show his / her IT skillsets reached a recognized standard.
