The utilization of e-identity, or electronic identity, as an alternative to physical proof of identity presents the advantage of convenience, enhanced efficiency, and robust security measures to safeguard personal information and prevent identity theft.

Leveraging dynamic QR code technology, a collaborative effort is underway, involving the ITSC, ISO, HRO, DSTO, and other relevant departments, to initiate an investigation into the implementation of e-identity. This collaborative endeavor aims to explore the feasibility and archive the following potential benefits of adopt e-identity within the HKUST organizational framework:

1. Standardize and streamline the existing life cycle management processes associated with different types of identities issued by various departments.

2. Facilitate the utilization of HKUST CWB campus services through the utilization of e-identity, such as granting access to sports facilities.

3. Provide an alternative option to physical proof of identity, enabling individuals to authenticate their identity digitally.

4. To improve operational efficiency, enhance service accessibility, and ensure the security and integrity of identity verification within the HKUST Clear Water Bay campus community.
