Microsoft’s Office 365 is a cloud solution. It offers an array of useful tools such as OneDrive for Business for document storage and Office Tools (like Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for PC, Mac and mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Android phone / tablet, Windows tablet).

Details

Starting from 1st Feb 2016, Office 365 is available to all staff users. You can logon to http://portal.office.com with your Windows domain account (@ust.hk).  If your desktop Windows has joined the domain and using IE browser, you will experience a better single sign on experience after adding the ADFS website to your local intranet.

If you have a pilot account (@o365.ust.hk or @connect.ust.hk),  please refer to migrating from Office 365 pilot account to OneDrive – HKUST.

Unlike the HKUST @Connect account for students, your Office 365 account will be terminated when you departure from the University.

Getting Started

Sign in to Office 365:

  1. Visit this address: http://portal.office.com
  2. Type your HKUST email address and then press the tab button.
    • IE with domain-logon
      If you are using Internet Explorer and has logon to your Windows machine using your HKUST domain account, you can sign on to Office 365 directly after adding the ADFS website to your local intranet.
    • IE without domain-logon
      If you are using Internet Explorer and logon to your machine using a local account (e.g. Administrator, etc.), you will be prompted to sign on to adfs.ust.hk:
    • Non-IE browsers
      Non-IE users (Chome, Firefox, etc.) will be redirected to HKUST ADFS login page:
  3. After sign in with your HKUST account (@ust.hk) and password, you will see the Office 365 home page.
  4. Select OneDrive from the app launcher and you can Drag and drop files to OneDrive for Business.
