Webpage Migration

The webpage guides you to migrate your webpages at ihome.ust.hk / home.ust.hk / blog.ust.hk to the revamped Personal Homepage <account>.studnet.ust.hk or <account>.people.ust.hk.

For users using the legacy iHome or home.ust.hk:

  1. Enable your Personal Homepage account
    Your Personal Homepage will be ready within 2 hours after enabled:
  2. Files backup and migration
  3. Modify your php program, Perl script, Shell script or .htaccess file if necessary
    • For legacy iHome user, remove the line "#!/usr/local/bin/php" from php files.
    • Please note that Perl script or Shell script are not supported in new homepage server.  User are advise convert them into PHP script.
       
  4. Modify database setup if necessary
    • If database is in use on ihome.ust.hk, it is required to change the connection setting of database host from ihomedb.ust.hk to 'localhost'. e.g. For WordPress users, it is required to modify the 'wp-config.php' and ensure connecting database with 'localhost'.
       
  5. Test all the web pages
    • Check and test if your website on <account>.student.ust.hk or <account>.people.ust.hk works or not. Modify the webpages on your local hard disk and upload them to the server again if necessary.
       
  6. Setup a webpage rediection (limited to staff only)
    • Send an email to cchelp@ust.hk if staff users required to have webpage redirection to your new homepage.

For users using blog.ust.hk:

Blog users may consider installing WordPress in your Personal Homepage Server and migrate all your blog pages to WordPress.
